Needing a layer that’s easy to wear around town when it is chilly? Gear Institute reviews our Ozone Hoody *New for Fall 12* featuring Polartec PowerStretch PRO!
Why it’s cool: This is a jacket you’ll take off only when you shower. As a technical piece, it’s built entirely of Power Stretch Pro, which is Polartec’s high-mobility four-way stretch fleece: the inside has a little bit of fuzzy loft for warmth and a great feel against your skin, and the nylon face fabic (read: pill and tear resistant) is smooth for slipping under a layer.
Best use: Around town, it’s cool enough to wear to the coffee shop every day (whether you’ve showered or not). As a fall hiking softshell/fleece, a mid-layer under a shell, or even as an on-skin layer—thanks to the flat seams and fuzzy liner. Given the top-shelf ingredients and Canadian manufacturing, the Ozone Hoody is really pricey—maybe not the best choice if you’re just looking for a hoodie to stain with burrito drippings. But bottom line: This piece is sick. Price: $180; westcomb.com
