January 2013 / Westcomb Outerwear Westcomb Outerwear

Westcomb Outerwear’s legendary Hutterite down, known worldwide for exceptional purity, warmth and durability, just got better.

For fall 2013, Westcomb will elevate their entire 12-piece down collection to 900-fill Hutterite down.

Their growing line of down designs includes a full range of styles, from waist cut lightweight down ‘sweaters’ to knee-length parkas, and includes four new designs for fall 2013.

“From the chemically untreated 900-fill feathers to the final exterior touches, Westcomb down products are far more than just an insulation piece.   They are individually designed, truly unique, world-class performance down products,” said Alan Yiu, president and lead designer of Westcomb.

As with all Westcomb pieces, the Hutterite Down collection is 100% made in Westcomb’s Vancouver factory, where oversight from the first cut to the final stitch leads to unparalleled quality.

The down itself is also 100% Canadian, available only once a year from the Hutterite community of northern Canada.   Harvested from full-grown adult geese raised as a sustainable food source, this hypo-allergenic down exceeds the European Class I standard of 94% down-to-feather ratio, and is known for its 100% natural chemical-free water repellency.

Westcomb’s newest designs featuring Hutterite Down 900-fill include:

·       Rainier Sweater (M).   Westcomb’s warmest mid-layering piece features the dense weave of a durable Pertex Quantum around the body, while stretchable shoulder panels of 100% waterproof Polartec® Neoshell® add exceptional range of motion.  ($420)

·       Chilko Sweater (M, W).   Offering warmth without weight for any occasion, this minimalist 900-fill down piece compresses easily into a daypack for any backcountry adventure.  ($350)

·       Dakota Hoody (W).   A women’s long parka designed for use as a layer or on its own, the Dakota blends fit, style and on-body performance.   Features include an adjustable torso system, internal cuffs and a fixed storm hood. ($450)

·       Pemberton Parka (M).  A men’s hooded piece that protects from head to knees with minimal weight, the Pemberton uses Schoeller C-Change to lock out winter elements, and lock in the warmth of high loft 900-fill Hutterite down.  Keeping you warm and dry in even the worst blizzard-like conditions, the Pemberton has an adjustable fixed hood with an adjustable waist system, low profile molded cuff tabs and a high collar with velour-lined chin-guard and wind guard. ($600)
